She dares to dream of change and does whatever it takes for it to happen, even if it means forging legal documentation. Knowing that this journey to the ‘West’ may change her life forever, she feels anxious, as she reaches the port of her final destination.

Seemab Gul
As an Asian artist based in London, Seemab's identity and the notion of displacement inform her work. After graduating from the Surrey Institute of Art & Design, she has curated and exhibited in London, Paris and Finland.
Her video works occupy a space between everyday and cinematic vision, exploring a point where different cultures intersect. Her works reveal an incendiary subtext, whether they are questioning power relationships or testing the role of women within a patriarchal society.
Seemab believes that Art reflects the journey to understand one’s own relationship to life, as well as being a utilitarian record of the moment, reflecting culture, politics and means of communication.
As a multi-media artist, her practice spans installation, sculpture, moving image and documentary.
